I just installed the Tweet This Plugin and had a little problem so I thought that I would share it and the solution with you in case you have the same problem.
When installing the plugin I got a message that it could not copy the file public_html/mark-strong.com/wp-content/tweet…..
So I thought that I would try changing the permissions on the wp-content folder and it worked. Just in case you don’t know how to do this I’ll walk you through it.
Log in to your Cpanel and click on file manager. You should be in the public_html folder but if you’re not double click it. If the domain you’re working with is your root domain you will see your WordPress folders.
If not double click the domain you want and then you should see all of your Wordpess folders.
Now click once on wp-content to select it. Go up to change permissions and click that.
Then change permissions to 777.
Now you should be able to go back to your WordPress admin panel and install the Tweet This plugin. Once the plugin is installed go back to the file manager in your Cpanel and set the permissions on wp-content back to 755.
That’s what I’ve been up to today and if you think this post was good Tweet This. Also leave a comment to let me know what you think, good or bad.
I’m not the most techie guy on the block so if I can do this you can too. Watch the video below and you will see just how simple it is to make a post in WordPress with whatever kind of media you want to include. Add video, audio and pictures in just seconds. I know this kind of sounding like a commercial for WordPress, but once you learn how to use it you will love it. In the video it dose not show it but the best place to add video is with the insert/embed media button (it looks like a strip of film).
If you have other topics that you would like to see covered in video tutorials leave a comment and I’ll do my best to post them for you.
In this video you will learn all about the widgets that are used to manage your sidebar. You will find out how you can add Adsense to your sidebar. Also banner ads for affiliate offers or for your own product, even advertising for other peoples products or sites. With this same handy dandy little widget you can even ad in your email capture form from your auto responder service. I hear you saying what is it? Well watch the video and you will find out.
Here are two great tutorials for you on how to configure your setting in your blog. This first one covers the general settings, the writing settings and the discusion settings. In the video when it talks about the writing section it talks about auto pinging. My feeling on this is to leave it blank until you have six or eight posts up. After that the only service I use is Pingoat.com.
In this second video the setting covered are permalinks and how to make a page your homepage through the reading settings. In the permalinks section it talks about a custom permalink structure and I don’t think that you will be able to make it out in the video so here is the code:
/%category%/%postname%
You can get many new themes for your blog right from within your admin panel. This video will take you step by step through the process of picking your new theme, downloading it to your computer, FTP it up to your hosting account and installing it on WordPress. Don’t worry it’s easy and you will probably spend more time choosing your theme than on any other part of this process. Enjoy!
